Saturday, the menfolk came together to get two wee saplings in the ground. In honor of our babies, Grammy and Gramps have generously bought each one their own tree, commemorating their childhoods and providing something stoic and permanent to measure growth and development by. For Audrey, it was a great burr oak, planted in the back yard and doing very well so far. For Henry, we chose a beautiful freestone, self-fertile peach tree, which is now planted near Audrey's "Aud-tree." And for good measure, we also got a redbud, which now resides in the front yard.
I'm not sure how, but Audrey seems to know the difference between them, and she took quite a bit of delight 'helping' Gramps and Daddy plant both trees. We look forward to watching them grow... both the trees, and the little ones!
