Christmas at Nanny's, where most of my husband's side of the family have been every Christmas for at least the last 40+ years, lived up to the reputation you'd expect from such a long-standing tradition. Ham, turkey, the world's best dressing, a Santa figurine on almost every flat surface, 'A Christmas Story' on repeat, a super late night with a few games, and the satisfying chaos that comes from a marathon of making, sneaking, and assembling into the wee hours.
Just magical enough for everyone to be a little sad that it's all over, but just enough for it to be OK that it is.
