Fiona Apple's First Taste has been stuck in my head since he took his first bite and we embarked on this next most exciting chapter. A happy little chorus for a happy Little Chunk (as long as you only get the chorus stuck in your head, ahhaha...).

Oatmeal
Mister Almost-Fifteen-Pounds got his first taste of oatmeal this week. It was a huge hit. Sister was two full weeks older than Henny when she got her first taste, and she wasn't nearly as excited about it as Little Brother was. On day two, he ate two teaspoons of oatmeal (measurement pre-cooked) mixed with 4 ounces of breastmilk, and could have eaten more if Mama had let him! He's going to give us a run for our money, this Little Eater of mine.

Jump!
This weekend, we:
- woke up way too early too many times
- made as many meals as possible without the use of the oven
- ate waffles
- finally got the whole family in the pool
- broke in many a new bathing suit and floatie
- witnessed a beloved Gramps jump off the diving board for the very first time (and many subsequent times afterwards) due to the insistence of a certain little girl
- ate watermelon
- made ice cream
- took long car rides with sticky, sweaty, happy, tired babies
- made it through yet another weekend of triple-digit heat
- vowed to have another weekend just like this one again... soon
We hope there were many a satisfying weekend to be had and enjoyed, and that the glow of those days carries in to the week for all!

Henny, Henny, Bo-Benny
The days sometimes seem to go by so slowly, but wow, does time fly by fast. Our little guy hit his three month mark today. To commemorate this day, he laughed out loud for the first time. Now, I know on birthdays, the parents are supposed to give the kiddos gifts, but for this little quarter-year anniversary, he gave his Mama the best gift ever. (Now the poor little guy has to put up with me in his face repeating what made him laugh over and over in the hopes that he'll do it again... no luck yet.) Though in the moment of laughter my camera was no where in reach, it was handy enough to capture some beautiful moments of Henny Benny Being Three Months Old.
Happy quarter birthday, Henny Benny. We are so glad you're here.

Girl Time
Sometimes, it doesn't matter how much is waiting in the wings to be tackled and checked off the to-do list. Sometimes, the most important thing to do is not on the list. That time usually rolls around when Little Brother is sleeping, and it sometimes looks like this:
Or this:
Or this:
No matter what they ultimately look like, these 'sometimes' moments are some of my most treasured, and the one-on-one time is truly special to me. We both look forward to the days up and coming when Henry joins us in our play and adventure, but until then we'll hold dear that special Girl Time when we can get it.

One Year Ago
This morning marks the one week anniversary of When Audrey Figured Out How to Open Doors. She celebrated by coming halfway down stairs at 6:13am, stopping, and yelling, "Where'd Maaaaaaamaa goooo?" Such a lovely beginning to this newest chapter. Ahem.
Anyway, as I lay beside her in my bed waiting for the last five minutes to pass before my alarm clock sounded, I kinda worked myself in to a sentimental mood. Wow, one year ago, she wasn't even two yet. Her hair was shoulder-length, her words were much fewer and much harder to decipher, she didn't even have all her teeth yet, and she was an only child. That was only one year ago.
These thoughts stayed with me through the beginnings of the morning as I got baby brother up, fed everyone, changed diapers, etc. When I finally got a second to sit down and visit this space, I couldn't help but wander through my early July 2010 photo folder, and indulge in reminiscence just a bit more...
Time seems more determined than ever to prove how fast it flies by. I got the point this morning, though I don't think that will stop it... or even slow it down.
